FAQ

WHAT IS SELF PUBLISHING?

Traditionally Authors have submitted their manuscripts to publishers in the hope that their work will be accepted. Traditional publishers will take all the risk in preparing, publishing, doing all the marketing and the legal work, as well as the distribution. While successful authors may sell millions of copies their royalties are lower than self published authors. The difference is stark.

Self published authors do not have to wait  until their book is accepted, however we do undertake a proofing process to improve readability. Through self publishing, our authors pay for the preparation and legal work and online listing. They also enjoy a marketing package in line with the package that they have chosen. With everything set up and some of their own contribution, we list their books across a number of platforms. Once the books have an ISBN number any high street bookseller can order a book for a customer and thus the authors earn royalties from retail sales too.

WHERE ARE MY BOOKS SOLD?

Your book will be listed for sale electronically on Amazon, Lulu, Goodreads and Scribd. There is also an option to sell on Kobo.

If you have chosen to publish in print as well, the package will include print copies of your book and copies will be submitted to the six national libraries in the UK.

Because all print published books have an ISBN number and barcode, they will also be distributed to booksellers countrywide, this distribution is done on demand.

WHAT ROYALTIES WILL I EARN?

We distribute your books across multiple channels. Your royalties will vary between 70 and eighty percent of the profit after the cost of publishing has been recovered, this is why the profit on E books is so much higher.

We earn 1% of your royalties for the first year to cover additional marketing costs. Thereafter all due royalties are yours.

WHAT AM I PAYING YOU FOR?

You are paying for us to proofread and alter any errors in your book. We help to design a cover – We all know how people judge books -right? And our relationships and with and expertise in publishing to the major online platforms.

We take on the responsibility of instructing our web developers to build a website (where the contract includes this)

WHO BUILDS MY WEBSITE?

If your package includes a website, it will be built by our in-house development team.

The copyright to the website becomes yours as soon as the site is completed. You will be charged an annual fee for hosting and maintenance. One year after your book is launched. The build and first years maintenance is included in the cost.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO PUBLISH A BOOK IN PRINT?

Every book is different. The price will depend on the length of the book, whether it is being published in paperback or hardback and how many copies are being ordered at a time.

With each printing run, the cost will vary on volume. The final price is also influenced by the type of paper that is used and whether the print is in colour or black and white. When you return an enquiry form, with a copy of your book, we’ll send you a quotation within 48 hours.
